Video: Portugal. The Man – “All Your Light (Times Like These)”

Having created a bit of a gruesome first video for “Sleep Forever”, Portugal. The Man has released the video for “All Your Light (Times Like These)” via Noisey, which features a bit of a hip-hop remix before the breakdown (What? Will this be re-released? It’s fantastic). This video is also a bit gory, just a heads up.

Arcade Fire “Scenes From the Suburbs” Short Film

Director Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are, Being John Malcovich) directed this short film in collaboration with Arcade Fire. In traditional Spike Jonze style, the film has a very interesting visual aesthetic and a very dark storyline. To watch the full 28 minute film, click HERE to watch it at mubi.com. If you like this, make sure to check out his last couple short films after the break. My personal favorite is We Were Once a Fairytale starring Kanye West.

Lost and Sound – Dinosaur Jr: You’re Living All Over Me

You're Living All Over Me

Amidst the haze of alternative wannabe’s (but couldn’t-be’s), there are few who stand atop the tallest tier of searing, angst-befuddled rock music. Everybody has their “go to” album when they’re feeling utterly crushed by the world of opposite-sex liaisons; but if there had to be one: Dinosaur Jr’s second album, You’re Living All Over Me, is the underground/indie (or whatever the cool fucking buzzword is nowadays) top pick. “Two Against One”-Danger Mouse and Jack White

Super producer Danger Mouse has released the first single from “Rome”,his collaboration with composer Daniele Luppi. How do you make a Danger Mouse album based on Sergio Leone spaghetti western soundtracks even more awesome? How about some vocals from my hero Jack White? “Rome” will be released on May 16th, and I can’t wait.

The Airborne Toxic Event – “Changing”

This is the first single off The Airborne Toxic Event’s new album All At Once which drops this month on April 26th. Highly infections with jingling guitars and poppy beats this song is sure to have you singing along by the second chorus. Its no surprise that the The Airborne Toxic Event have again successfully mixed melancholy lyrics with the eager hopefulness of poppy alternative stylings. Take a listen and look out for their weekly youtube updates of their Bombastic series of videos that show off their latest songs in different acoustic arrangements.

Foo Fighters Album Stream

So far my spring break has been awesome, but getting to hear this early has just made it fucking awesome. The Foo Fighters album Wasting Light comes out on April 12th.  I’m forcing myself to listen to the first two songs only though.

Rope Music Video

This Foo Fighter music video is a couple days old, but it still rocks.

New Foo Fighter Single – “Rope”

If you haven’t heard yet, The Foo Fighters released the first official single “Rope” of their new album titled Wasting Light. This song sounds more like classic Foo Fighters than White Limo which they released last week in their new music video. I was pretty sad I missed out on their secret show last week at the Troubador by about 50 people, but I hope they will do at least one more. Please!!! Anyways can’t wait til April when I can finally hear all the new songs.

Capsolin Headlines @ Chain Reaction this Saturday!

Didn’t get the tickets to Major Rager!? Fear naught, ’cause our old friends Capsolin are headlining at Chain Reaction this Saturday, the 19th.  This is their biggest show yet AND the event is all ages, so you can bring your kids, nieces and nephews, your underaged girlfriend, or any other form of young nuggets you would like to have flayed with Capsolin’s musical goodness.  Are there other bands there?  Uh, yeah.  Lots.  Like I the Mighty, The Vinyl Thieves, K Sera, The Body Rampant, and Goodnight Sunrise.  Never heard of them before?  Well you should go check ‘em out, since tickets are only ten bucks pre-sale and something around that price at the door.

It’ll be the cheapest, most entertaining thing you could do on a Saturday night, especially if you lost your ID the night before while you were getting grinded on by that portly lady at the Key Club.  Event starts at 7pm.  Check out the Facebook event page for more info.

Set times:

7:00 – 7:25 / Goodnight Sunrise
7:35 – 8:00 / The Body Rampant
8:10 – 8:35 / K Sera
8:45 – 9:10 / I the Mighty
9:20 – 9:45 / The Vinyl Thieves
10:00 – end / Capsolin

New Radiohead Album to be Released This Saturday!!!!

Radiohead surprised the world today by announcing that their new album The King of Limbs will be released as a digital download this Saturday, February 19th.  The album can be preordered for $9 on the official album website TheKingOfLimbs.com.  They aren’t releasing it for free like they did with In Rainbows, but if you aren’t willing to pay $9 for new Radiohead music there might be something wrong with you.  You can also preorder the crazy collectors edition which comes with a book of artwork and all kinds of other exciting extras.

After I heard that my beloved White Stripes had broken up, I thought nothing could cure my broken heart.  But news of a new Radiohead album has numbed the pain, and I can’t believe it’s coming out so soon.  I’m as excited as a 14 year-old girl at a Justin Beiber concert.
