Star Slinger – “Ladies in the Back” ft. Teki Latex

Hi WGWI! It’s been a while.

I found “Ladies in the Back” by Star Slinger from his last EP aptly titled Ladies in the Back, which he released pretty late in 2012, but I did not pay that much attention to it. With one listen I was not entirely hooked in, so I moved along to other things, but Star Slinger just released a video for the song, heavily featuring Teki Latex and, of course, the ladies in the back. After watching the video, which really is just Latex walking around / standing around, and slo-mos of girls dancing (not that revolutionary for a rap video) something really hit me about the beats to this song. They are actually really catchy, and since my first watch of the video, I have had it on repeat in the background of everything I have been doing on the internet.

Maybe it is just because I am generally one of the ladies in the back / dressed in all black / lipsynching every track”, but I gotta respect a track dedicated to my kind. Take a listen to Star Slinger’s siq beat below:

oki-ni Presents Telepathe – “Attitude”

This. On repeat. The first song by Egyptian Love, “I Cry (Night After Night)” sounds a lot of what is happening at home as far as music making goes, so it caught my attention enough to listen to the whole mix, especially because Telepathe also rocks my world. The Miami bass sound is coming back in a good way. Take notice!

Sleigh Bells – “Born to Lose”

Yes yes y’all, Sleigh Bells have announced their sophomore LP, Reign of Terror, will be on its way soon! The title sounds appropriate already. Listen to “Born to Lose”, distorted, heavy guitar riffs and Alexis Krauss’ dreamy vocals drifting over them. Really anticipating this next album and excited to see where they’ll take their hard-hitting sound. Watch the Reign of Terror trailer here!

Diplo fixes Sleigh Bells

While all the rumors of Beyonce collabing with Diplo and Sleigh Bells are rollin’ around, Diplo dropped this remix of Sleigh Bells’ “Tell ‘em”, which at least shows that those two are in the nice.  Only time will tell if the trio will come together for a track or two, but hey, any combination of the three would be something to hear.

Here’s the Diplo fix of “Tell ‘em”.

Lost and Sound – My Bloody Valentine: Loveless

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

From the seemingly innocent, typically alternative mid 80′s cover art, one would never assume the nausea-inducing content imbued into the compact disc. Then again, the scalding fuchsia burn of the abused Fender Jazzmaster might be an indicator.

For those who have already heard My Bloody Valentine’s seminal 1991 work, Loveless, it truly needs no introduction. If this is the case, you’ve probably already ranted to your friends about how the album either, “changed my life, dude” or that it’s “a total piece of noisy trash-eating garbage.” So, assuming you’ve never heard Loveless, your reaction could be one of the two…let’s hope the former.
