Angel Haze – “New York” (King Krule Rework) Via BBC1

I wouldn’t peg King Krule as one to rework much, let alone hip hop. But then again, the young kid probably does a lot more than I would ever peg him to do (like make music that has a serious hold on my heart). Not to mention that Angel Haze has been getting a lot of blog love these days, as she damn well should, the reworked track comes as a pleasant surprise. King Krule – “Rock Bottom”

Even though it’s been almost a year, I didn’t expect to hear from King Krule so soon after he releasing his self-titled. His kind of passion, and subject matter can’t and shouldn’t be rushed. Although, this is only a 7″, so I guess it’s good timing after all. “Rock Bottom” is the A side to the 7″ that’ll be released September 24th on Rinse. Peep it below.

Yours Truly: King Krule “Portrait in Black and Blue”

The Yours Truly sessions are really beautiful, no matter who they’re filming. Always a great performance in an intimate setting with footage that makes you feel like you were there while they were filming it. I couldn’t think of a more appropriate artist to capture these feelings than King Krule (aka Zoo Kid aka Archie Marshall). Pick up his self-titled 5-track EP via True Panther Sounds. It’s a quick listen, which makes me question how much and how long he’s been writing, but also makes me appreciate what he’s generated so far. However, honest songwriting that’s found in “Out Getting Ribs”, “Bleak Bake” and “Portrait in Black and Blue” simply can’t be rushed.

King Krule (Zoo Kid)

I truly hope Zoo Kid’s track “Out Getting Ribs” has haunted you, in the best way possible. Why? Because he’s back under a new moniker, King Krule. Not only that, but True Panther will be putting out a self-titled EP out Nov 8th for us in the USA. Pre-order here. Get lost in the echos of his latest track, “The Noose of Jah City”. Maintaining his deep, sinister, yet captivating vocals, and structured instrumentals.
